How does a bag combination lock work?

When the combination code on the three dials is in the correct open position (factory setting: 0-0-0), the slide button can be pushed to the side to release the locking bolt that goes through the zipper pulls' eye. In this state, the two zipper pulls can be inserted and/or removed from the combination lock.

In the open position, the two zipper pulls are inserted/clicked into the combination lock, and then the dials are turned to an arbitrary position to lock the mechanism. Be careful not to turn the dials before the slide button has been fully returned to its original position, otherwise, you may change the code inadvertently (see below).

It is not possible to insert the zipper pulls into the combination lock if the three dials are not in the correct open position first. This also prevents locking the combination lock without knowing or remembering the code.

I can not remember the lock-code to my Chill Stealth backpack?

Not good, but there is hope ahead! If you have forgotten the code or accidentally set a different one (so the button cannot be pushed out), there is fortunately an exclusion method to find the currently set lock combination again.

On YouTube, there are several different videos that show how to reset/identify the set code on all suitcases/bags that use these types of lock systems.

When you have identified the code and opened it, you can usually set a new code if desired (see next question).

When operating the combination lock on a daily basis, be careful not to turn the code wheels before the sliding button has fully returned to its original position, as otherwise you may unintentionally change your code. This is typically how the code is accidentally changed!

A small tip for choosing a code that you can easily remember could be to use your height ;-)

How do I make a new code on the Chill Stealth bag?

The code lock is factory set to 0-0-0 and should be changed to a personal selected code. You may choose your height or something you can easily remember:

- Set the code lock to 0-0-0 (or what you previously set the code to)
- Press the button outwards and hold it in this position.
- Set the code lock to a new desired combination.
- Release the button again and the new code is now set.

Does the Chill backpacks protect against knife slashing / cutting?

Yes, the Chill Stealth, Urban, Fusion & Voyage bags are equipped with 'Fiberfoam' layers inside which both insulate and protect against shocks, as well as making it difficult to easily slash / cut-up the bag with a knife. The fiberfoam layers are located inside the actual bag, and the surface of the bags are made of heavy-duty water repellent textile and PU protein leather. Cutting and slashing the bag may obviously damage the textile and PU leather surface etc., but the fiberfoam layer design will significantly reduce the risk of any quick and easy access to the actual contents of the bag.

The likelihood that pickpockets use knives to cut-up bags must generally be considered small. Pickpockets will usually choose to skip theft-proof bags, and instead focus on easier-to-access bags and targets. Skilled Pickpockets typically enter through openings / zippers, and the code lock will prevent this.

I cannot charge through the bag's USB port/cable?

There is a natural voltage drop in cables depending on length and the number of connectors/joints, etc. Since the USB charging port in the bag is actually a USB extension cord with connectors on both ends, this contributes to an even greater voltage drop. Many USB power banks also operate on the low end of 5V and below, and the voltage often drops quite dramatically with load (and wear and tear). The combination of these factors can result in the voltage at the end of all the cables being so low that the connected smartphone/device will not charge. Ideally, one should always use the shortest possible cables and pair them with USB chargers/USB power banks that actively regulate the voltage within the norm (~5.1V-5.2V), as this compensates better for losses in cables/connectors.

Some Apple iPhone/iPad products may also display messages such as "not charging" or "not compatible" when non-genuine chargers and cables are detected. However, they usually still charge!

Many newer smartphones that use USB-C (USB Type-C) cables also use the manufacturer's own standard for fast charging. This cannot typically be fully utilized by non-genuine cables/chargers/power banks, so charging will usually be slower. USB Type-C and Lightning cables also have a microchip built in to regulate charging. Some of these types of cables are not always compatible with extension cables.

Are the Chill backpacks water repellent?

Yes, all the Chill bags are made of water repellent textile and PU protein leather.

In case of heavy rain, water will always eventually find its way through sewers and zippers etc. If using a backpack during heavy rain and snow, it is recommended to use an optional Rain Cover for enhanced protection.

Is Chill Stealth / Urban / Fusion / Voyage really also thermal insulated?

Yes, the whole bag is sewn in multiple layers of textile and enclosed with our unique insulating 'fiberfoam layers'. This not only provide added protection for shocks, but also offer thermal insulation. Thus, the bag can keep your food and drinks hot/cold longer.

It is recommended to freeze 1-2 bottles of water and put them in the main compartment (or big side pockets of Chill Stealth), so you can enjoy cold water on your journey.
